Changing the post writing font, and style/background.

This is a question that is asked in several boards so I figured I would post both the question and answer here to make the answer easier to find...

Right now I am having a play with the fonts on my board, I have changed the posted font, not sure I like it yet, but time will tell. What I would like to know is how can I change the font that I can see now as I write this, also how can i put a photo in the back ground, I have seen it done on many boards for eg HERE when his page has fully loaded see the panthers eyes. How can I get a photo behind like that? Thank you for any help that can be given. emoticon

Hi Erika! emoticon

.ak_msgform_message_right_td textarea {
   color: #____;
   font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
   background: #____ url(____) center no-repeat;
}

Fill in the first blank with the font color.

Change the font-family if you wish.

The 2nd blank is the background color to show for dialup users while the page is still loading. You should make this match your background image.

The 3rd blank is your background image.

center will center the background image within your textarea (posting box), but you can change that position (see below).

no-repeat tells it not to tile, but you can change or omit that part completely. Omitting that will default to tile both ways.

If you want to do the same thing with the subject box, use this:

.ak_msgform_subject_right_td input { .... }

With the subject box, you may want to change no-repeat to repeat-x to have it tile horizontally, depending on the image. You can also change center to just top or just bottom and it will default to left top or left bottom, or you can change it to left top, right top, left bottom, right bottom, left center, or anything I might have missed. emoticon

I hope this helps! emoticon
